When you need to decide on your major area(s) of study

When do I need to decide on my major area(s) of study in my undergraduate course?

Students are only required to nominate their major(s) after they have completed the first year of their bachelor’s degree. This means you have time to try out a variety of fields of study before choosing the areas you are most interested in.

If you are certain about what you would like to major in, you are welcome to declare it when you first enrol.

If you are intending on a career in Engineering or Architecture, you may be required to elect your major(s) in first year to ensure you complete units that may be prerequisites for second and third year.
