Rhodes Scholarship selection process
What is the selection process for the Rhodes Scholarship?
Selection for Rhodes Scholarship is made without regards to financial means, marital status, race, ethnic origin, colour, gender, religion, sexual orientation, social background, disability, caste or other irrelevant distinction. Information collected is for outreach and monitoring purposes only.
If you meet the eligibility criteria for more than one Rhodes constituency, you must apply to one constituency only.
- If selection committee does not find a sufficiently qualified candidate, no selection will be made. The decision of the Selection Committee is final.
- The scholarship cannot be deferred, the successful recipient will commence at the University of Oxford in October 2020.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a social reception (e.g. a lunch or dinner reception) and an interview. You must be available to attend the social reception and interview in person. Interviews will be held in the territory to which you have applied, all interviews will have taken place by the end of November.
Australia-at-Large Selections: The State and Australian Commonwealth Territories panels may each refer up to 2 shortlisted applicants, other than the Scholar-elect, for consideration by the Australia-at-Large panel. Applicants who are referred will only be considered for election on the basis of an interview in person.
